Welcome!

I write romantic fantasy where magic is real and love is dangerous.
My books are full of genre-blending plot twists and impossible choices that will make you suffer in the best way possible. (Not to mention so. much. yearning.)
Two of my romantic fantasy series are now available:
🗡 Minutes Before Sunset – a Midwest-inspired rural romantasy where the “dark side” are actually the good guys (and everyone has two faces—literally!)
⚡ Bad Bloods – a dark dystopian fantasy that’s part X-Men, part rebellion, all heart (& found family)
When I’m not writing, I work in Art Rights & Permissions at Penguin Random House Audio and bake cookies at midnight while binging K-dramas. I’m also a cat mom to two mischievous gremlins. I’m represented by Gallt & Zacker Literary agency.
Ready to chat books? ☕ You can reach me at via my Contact page. I’ll be drinking coffee when I read your message.
Talk to you soon!

Hi Shannon, thanks for stopping by and liking and following my blog. I like what you’re doing here and I’ll be following with interest.
Steven
Thank you for reading my blog. You are very inspiring. You are definitely way ahead of your time. I will definitely read your blog. Keep up the good work!
Hey Shannon, thanks for stopping by and for the follow as well…we sound very much alike. And I have to say I commend you for finishing your degree in English, I attempted to, but at a school where professors weren’t really there to teach (Wichita State). Therefore I am on my own in that department for now.
And I will definitely be checking into November Snow.
I haven’t finished yet, but thank you for your encouragement.
Good luck with your degree in your department, and I hope you find November Snow to be as enjoyable as I found your words to be.

Hey thanks for visiting my blog, you sound like a fascinating person and as I’m not familiar with a number of your favourite authors I look forward to finding out about them and generally getting inspired by you (and your cat, of course).
I wanted to say thank you for following my blog. I’m an aspiring writer just like you were, and as for the entering writing contests, I’m taking your advice already! ❤
Thanks for stopping by and following me. I look forward to reading more of your writing.
Hi! Thank you very much for liking a post of mine and following. 🙂 I just want to say that you’re really amazing!
Thanks for liking my post ‘Waiting On God’
Hey there Shannon! What a small world it is, I grew up in Kansas City and although I did not attend KU I have many friends who did so I’ve spent a lot time on the campus there and of course in Lawrence! I actually went to MU but don’t hold it against me!!
I lost my mother as well back in 2002 so my heart goes out to you, I know how hard it can be and the internal struggle that goes on even after all these years. Your comment about finding the truth to be stranger than fiction really made me smile because I could not agree more, actually it’s why I named my blog what I did. You sound like a very talented young woman and I can’t wait read all you have to offer here! I think the painful moments in our lives define us and deepen our character and this gives our soul a voice, sometimes the soul screams out through the pen, the brush or the camera and in many other ways as well. You seem like a person who has grown from her pain instead of letting it stunt you and I admire and respect that!
Thank you for your kinds words. What a message.
We do have a lot alike. I’m looking forward to reading your posts. Just your thoughts behind a comment show how much you’re connected with the world and yourself.
Happy (hopefully) Monday!
~SAT
You are very welcome and thank you as well, I would like to think I’m connected with the world and myself though at times it doesn’t always feel that way! Have a wonderful Monday as well my friend.
Hi Shannon. It’s good to see you so passionate and committed to what you do. I signed up to follow your progress and look forward to reading more. Good luck!

Thank you so much for stopping by and following my Blog – I hope you enjoy what you read. Good luck with your writing career, I have no doubt your Mum would have been very proud of the way in which you continue to honour her memory.
Shannon, thank you so much for following my blog. I’m thrilled to see that you live in Lawrence and go to KU — my son graduated from there and my husband and I are lifetime Jayhawks! I also have family members living in Lawrence. I’m looking forward to reading more of your blog posts …
Hello there! 🙂
I already can’t wait to read more from your blog, this was a great page. Thank you for stopping by my blog & liking my creations. I appreciate the support so much, it’s so lovely to have others see something in you! I am happy you came along my blog as yours is amazing! Thank you again, I wish you a wonderful day, good luck with everything & hope everything is well!
Cheers 🙂
Thank you for following, Shannon. When someone does so I always take a look at their blog and was thrilled when I came here and discovered you have a black cat named Bogart, love the Pack, drive a manual, and have an irrepressible talent. What’s not to like (and follow)? Please keep burning bright.
Shannon
Very impressed with your energy, passion and commitment and, at 54, describing myself as an ’emerging writer’, I feel quite put to shame. I did identify particularly with your favourite activity being to ‘talk, talk, talk, talk, talk,’ and your enjoyment of hearing about strangers’ lives, finding life really can be stranger than fiction. I’m planning a blog soon exploring my concept of being a ‘story thief’. Thanks for following and liking my blog and website. My hope is that it will provide me with more of the admirable focus and energy that you exude.
I’m glad we have so much in common, and I also hope I can provide what you’re looking for. Your words are very flattering. Thank you. Looking forward to sharing future posts with you.

Hello Shannon,
Thank you for liking my blog article “Long live the moose!”… Your novel “November Snow” sounds so interesting and I seriously look forward to seeing it as a Amazon Kindle book. (Sorry, this is the only e-reding device I have.) If you ever become interested in promoting your book to the Chinese world, please drop me a line. We writers should always work hard and help each other.
Sincerely,
Christine Sun

Unfortunately, “November Snow” was available as Kindle, but they wouldn’t allow me to be on Barnes & Noble NOOK and Kindle at the same time. I had more NOOK requests, so I made that decision. But if you request Kindle on Amazon, they’ll reconsider my contract.
THANK YOU for your promotion opportunity. I agree with writers helping one another, and that goes for you as well.

Thanks for the follow Shannon. I enjoyed reading about you. For a 21-year-old you are quite insightful. I look forward to reading your posts as well!
Welcome to “Swords, Specters, & Stuff.” Best of luck with your writing.
Thanks for liking Haiku View, Shannon!
Very cool stuff. Love Bogart! I have 2 cat, one names after my favorite actor Marlin Brando, the other is all black like yours named Princess, my wife named her LOl! This for enjoying my “Middle” piece of work. Always good to get a small pat on the back, sort to speak.
Also I love when, in your about statement, said I live thru my daydreams. This reminds me is a great unknowns Sufi’s quote: Life is a dream and when you die you wake up.
Thx! For enjoying In the Middle. Living thru your daydreams is very wise, love it. “To live is a dream and when you die you wake up”- unknown Sufi. 🙂

Yes, I have :]

Thanks for checking out the blog! I myself love to write and am working towards writing my first novel!! Its so refreshing and inspiring to connect with peers who are taking great strides in the arts and getting their work out there! Congrats on all of your success and I wish you much more to come!

Thanks for your follow! I am quite honored to be read by one so accomplished at such a young age.
Congratulations on your early successes in life! I look forward to seeing more from you in the future. Seems like you have some great talents that you are using wisely.
Hi Shannon! Thank you for following my blog. Seems like the death of those we love unleashes the creative soul within us. We seem to have both been inspired by tragedy in its various forms. Interesting how our experiences are similar though age-wise we are decades apart. Good luck with everything. You clearly have the drive to make your dreams come true. X
I never reply to ‘liked your posts’ as a rule, but your name, Shannon, made me think of Ireland. Coincidently I had just been having an on-line spat with an Irishman from Dublin. Strangely, like your correspondent po3try and your good self, I too lost my mother when I was very young. Anyway, thank you for liking my post, it is gratifying to have a prof of English reading my junk, I hope you found it up to standard.
Well, I’m glad I could be an exception (I am part Irish btw.)
And, of course, I’m looking forward to reading your “up to standard” pieces 😀

Sabrina fan here! You go girl!
Hey there Shannon, thanks so much for checking out my latest entry on My Future Book blog and for the follow. I loved your Oscar night predictions and I especially love your story as a writer. Your passion is very evident and I look forward to reading more from you.
Thanks Shannon. I have to say, I find it quite bizarre that people on the other side of the world could be the least bit interested in anything that I have posted. I started my blog as an assignment for a course I’m doing at TAFE. It just blows my mind to think that people outside my safe, little classroom environment are reading what I write! You sound as if you’re very accomplished; well done you 🙂
I nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award. http://legendsofwindemere.com/2013/02/25/beautiful-blogger-award/
Thank you very much.
I’m flattered.

I love the fact that you published at sixteen, but then have gone on to study.. It’s the adventure that never ends! It sounds like you have all the right stuff for a writing career – love of books, extensive reading list, more than your share of love and loss and the discipline to get your words down on the page. Lovely to meet you!
Thanks for following my blog Shannon! You’re so talented and your blog is fresh and vibrant, I love it
🙂
Thanks for following my blog, Shannon (love that name)! Enjoyed reading about you. I think you might like my autobiography, since you sound like a bit of an adventurer. 🙂
Hey girl, awesome blog and a novel at 16. You rock! haha.
It’s lovely to meet someone else who drinks too much coffee! Thanks for followings Newbie Writers Guide, we are all about helping writers get published, or just enjoy the process!
Hi Shannon,
Thanks for visiting my blog. You sound like a very industriousl young woman. Good for you. Keep writing and reaching for the stars. I will check back to see what you are doing.

Thank you for visiting my blog!
Cheers,

Thank you Shannon for reading a post and following! Well done for continuing to live with energy, passion and sharing despite so much loss in your life. God bless!
AnElephantCant think of anything clever to say
This happens time after time
But he wants you to know
That he likes you and so
He says hello with this silly rhyme
Loved it!
Thank you for it (and keep up the creativity)

Hi Shannon. Thanks for visiting my blog. You sound like a very cool person. Your Humphrey Bogart is much cuter than the actor (although he was cool too).
