Sailor Moon Themed Character Art + Drawing Update!

Sailor Moon’s birthday is the perfect excuse to commission Sailor Moon-style character art for my contemporary romantasy.

The Timely Death trilogy combines that high school slice of life fun with secret magical beings at night, just like Sailor Moon. My characters are human during the day, magical warriors at night (and with all new faces), so you could be fighting your best friend and not even know it. Both of these art pieces are of Eric & Jessica during their day life, one at school, one at the prom scene at the end of the story.

Minutes Before Sunset – book 1 – starts on July 4, so now’s the perfect time to jump in. It’s also on Kindle Unlimited for the first time.

Anyway, I love working with artists to bring characters to life. If you have any recommendations, drop them in the comments.

I’m also learning how to draw on my own. Lately, I’ve been taking a lot of art lessons but challenging myself in between to draw characters from my WIPs. Here’s a few of my experiments! (Top left was my earliest attempt, bottom right is my latest.)

I’m trying out a lot of styles, and I definitely have a lot to learn! (I need to study rendering, clothing, and hair so much more.) In a couple months, I’d love to redraw some of these just to see how my skills change. But I’m really happy with the progress I’m making. More importantly, I’m having a blast! I was literally drawing stick figures a month ago. Now I’m having a hard time putting my iPad down so that I can focus on my revisions (don’t tell my agent lol).

One of my art pieces made a fabulous reel that resonated with a lot of readers, and that was exciting to see! It’s giving me a really nice out for my creative anxiety–and a new way to connect with y’all.

What have you been up to? Are you drawing? Writing?

I’d love to hear from you!
