Know that I’m spending my days listening to Elvis, sitting in my favorite coffee shop, writing still. Thinking about what it is that I’ll do next.
Mostly, I’m trying to spend less time online and more time staring at the heatwave clouds from my trampoline (…that I can’t jump on because I broke my left foot, which has been more discouraging than expected. Anyway, I’ll be okay). Other than recovering, I’m writing in my sunny suffering book (even though my world building is off, but that’s for future Shannon to fix). I’m also learning how to draw the characters, too. Sometimes, I play CHEMICAL LIGHT by Josie Edwards on repeat – and so loudly – my ears ring and the entire world disappears. My soul likes to swim in it.
Similarly, I recently read INTO THE BLUE by Emma Brodie and felt it so deeply in my bones, it was like waking up from a longggg dream. I sobbed as much as I laughed. It’s one of my favorite books of the decade.
I miss that – enjoying art instead of creating it.
(So, I ordered myself Out of Print’s Astronauticals sweater and coffee mug to remind me of all that. This is not an ad, I promise.)
Right now, my WIP is messy. My heart feels messier. But I’m trying, and my TBR is high.
Always, with more to come,
~SAT
